Fire damages home in Navy complex

Advertiser Staff

Fire damaged a two-story home this morning on Anderson Avenue in Halsey Terrace, a Navy housing complex in the Aliamanu region.

A family of four and a dog were displaced and will need to stay in temporary lodging for the time being, fire Capt. Terry Seelig said. Two adults, a man and a woman, were in the house at the time of the fire.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen as a result of unattended cooking. A smoke detector alerted the two adults to the fire, Seelig said.

The two left the home and called for help when they realized They could not handle the flames themselves, he said.
