Chaminade's Whiting makes DII all-West Region team

Advertiser Staff

Chaminade senior guard Zack Whiting, a Bob Cousy Award finalist, was named to the first team of the Daktronics NCAA Division II West Region team.

He is the only player from a Hawaii Division II college to be named to the team, selected by the sports information directors of NCAA II West Region schools that sponsor men's basketball.

All five first-team selections will now go on the national ballot for Daktronics All-American.

Humboldt State senior forward Kevin Johnson was named Player of the Year.

Joining Johnson and Whiting were Jontae Vinson of Cal State-Los Angeles, Jushay Rockett of Alaska-Fairbanks and Dustin Bremerman of Seattle Pacific.
