By Dan Nakaso
Advertiser Staff Writer

Inter-Island Helicopters pilots have been involved in two other two fatal crashes on Kaua'i since 1994.

On Christmas Day 2005, the son of Inter-Island Helicopters' owner died when he crashed his McDonnell Douglas 369FF helicopter at a reservoir near Lihu'e, Kaua'i. The pilot was loading water into a bucket attached to the helicopter to help fight a brush fire.

On April 18, 1994, an Inter-Island Helicopters Hughes 369D aircraft crashed near Hanapepe Valley on Kaua'i, killing one person and injuring four. The National Transportation Safety Board cited engine failure.
