On BOE agenda today: student discipline, surfing policy

The state Board of Education's committee on special programs will be meeting at 3 p.m. today in the Queen Lili'uokalani Building in Honolulu.

Topics on the agenda include an update on the Hawaiian language immersion program, an update on the implementation of the BOE's surfing policy and an update on the implementation of Chapter 18, Hawai'i administrative rules relating to student misconduct, discipline, school searches and seizures, reporting offenses, police interviews and arrests, and restitution for vandalism and negligence, and administrative rules.

The meeting is open to the public.
