KHPR back on the air using backup power

News Release

Radio station KHPR (88.1 FM) is back on the air using backup power, the station says.

Backup power went on at about 3:30 p.m. today. The public radio station had been off the air since about 1 p.m. because of a break in the Hawaiian Electric Co. line feeding its transmitter on Wiliwilinui Ridge, Hawaii Public Radio said.

Michael Titterton, president and general manager of HPR, said HECO teams were still trying to identify and repair the problem.
