Salem Communications Corp., a radio-station owner that operates seven stations in Hawai'i, said net income in the three months ended Dec. 31 fell about 1 percent to $3.3 million compared to a year earlier as it increased spending on marketing, promotions and programmers at some of its news talk stations.

The Camarillo, California-based company said fourth quarter revenue rose about 11 percent compared to a year earlier to $59.8 million.

The company's Honolulu radio stations include KHNR AM and FM, KAIM, KGU, KHUI, KGMZ and KHCM.
