2 Guam soldiers killed on duty in Ethiopia

News Release

Two soldiers from Guam were killed March 5 in Ethiopia when their vehicle rolled over, the Department of Defense announced today.

They were in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, which is the global operation focused on routing al-Qaida from Afghanistan and elsewhere.

The soldiers were Sgt. Gregory D. Fejeran, 28, of Barrigada, Guam, and Sgt. Christopher J. C. Fernandez, 28, of Dededo, Guam.

The incident is under investigation.

The soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 294th Infantry Regiment, Barrigada, Guam.
