Towers sought at wind farm

Advertiser Staff

The Kahe'awa Wind Power farm is seeking a use permit from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources to install four meteorological towers that will be used to collect information on wind speed and direction.

The towers would collect data that would be used to ensure that any wind power generation capacity added at the pastures is appropriate, and the data collection would be for a minimum of six months at six different locations within the project area at Olowalu-Ukumehame in Lahaina, according to the Office of Environmental Quality Control newsletter.

The towers would be up to 200 feet high.
