Casting call for Malama Jam on Thursday and Friday

Derek Paiva
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

Malama Jam is looking for a few talented singers, dancers and musicians.

Organizers putting together the fourth annual talent show benefiting Honolulu community charities will hold an open "casting call" on Thursday and Friday for youth, high school age or younger, interested in auditioning for this year's May 6 concert.

By-appointment-only auditions will be held from 3:45 p.m. to 6 p.m. on both days at Punahou School's Dillingham Workshop. Contact Tierney Morikawa at 384-0551 or tmorikawa07@punahou.edu to schedule an audition.

The Malama Jam Foundation's annual concerts have raised between $15,000 and $25,000 each year for charities such as The Children's Alliance of Hawaii and HUGS. Funds collected from this year's Malama Jam concert will benefit the Institute for Human Services.

The foundation was founded four years ago by Morikawa and River Kim — then Punahou high school freshmen — to benefit community needs.
