Federal courthouse reopens after repairs

Advertiser Staff

After being closed for a week for repairs and cleanup because of a broken water pipe, the federal courthouse reopened today.

The five-story structure shut down March 13 after the pipe burst and flooded the building with an estimated 1,500 gallons of water.

During the closure, federal court hearings were held at various locations around town, including the Federal Detention Center and the federal bankruptcy courtroom.

The shutdown for repairs is the longest anyone can remember for the courthouse, which opened in 1978.
