Flash flood watch for O'ahu, Kaua'i, Ni'ihau, Lana'i

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for O'ahu, Kaua'i and Ni'ihau through late tonight as a cold front nearing Kaua'i is expected to move across O'ahu.

The front will move slowly, the weather service said, but could bring heavy showers over the three islands tonight — and potential flash floods.

The National Weather Service earlier issued a flood advisory for Lana'i when a rain gauge at Lana'i City showed a recorded 2.16 inches of rain per hour.

Heavy rain was also reported falling over Ko'ele and Manele.

A flash flood watch means flooding is possible but not imminent. The weather service warned people to be prepared to take quick action is a flash flood warning is issued.
