State House leaders are scheduled to announce the inclusion of $31 million in the House budget today for the construction of phase one of the University of Hawai'i-West Oahu.

The funding will be announced at the state Capitol rotunda at 11:30 a.m.

The new building will be in Kapolei, makai of H-1 Freeway. The school is currently operating out of portable classrooms near Leeward Community College.

UH-West O'ahu will offer four-year bachelor's degrees and will be similar in size to UH-Hilo, state officials said.
