Attempted robbery at Hawaii National Bank in Kahului

KAHULUI, Maui Maui police are investigating an attempted bank robbery today at the Hawaii National Bank branch on Pu'unene Avenue in Kahului.The incident was reported just before 2 p.m., when an unidentified man handed a note demanding money to a bank teller. The note did not mention a weapon, and no weapon was seen, Lt. John Jakubczak said. The would-be robber fled empty-handed before police arrived, he said.
The man was described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, 6 feet tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, blue pants and sunglasses.
