Honolulu ranks high for residents with active lifestyles

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu ranks among the top 10 large cities in the nation in a survey examining metropolitan areas where people are living an active lifestyle to keep themselves well and fit.

Hawai'i's capital ranked sixth out of the top 50 cities nationally in the "America's Most Energetic Cities" ranking sponsored by Tahitian Noni International. The Provo, Utah-based company enlisted the help of Sperling's BestPlaces to review data and perform the ranking.

San Francisco was named the Most Energetic City in the survey, while Memphis, Tenn. ranked as the last, according to a news release.

Honolulu did well in several category rankings, including topping all other metropolitan areas when it came to healthy living.

It was No. 2 in the quality of health and active lifestyle categories, while it was No. 10 in recreational resources.
