ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Freshen dog's breath

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Face it, taking a bath is pretty low on a dog's list of daily do's. Now, producers of Body Mint, that little green pill that reduces human body and breath odors, has come out with Smell Goodies, a similar product for dogs. Smell Goodies claims to work internally to neutralize odors before they're secreted through your dog's skin and breath. The pill, given daily, comes in two strengths: for dogs under 40 pounds and over. Available from pet stores on O'ahu, selected veterinarians and in Longs Drugs, Don Quijote, Star Market, Foodland, the Marine Corps Base Exchange, and Sack N Save. Cost for 30 tablets is $15.95, www.smellgoodies.com.

HAPPENING

GLOBAL WARMING LECTURE TONIGHT

While drilling ice sheets in the 1990s, Richard Alley became worried the Earth's climate could shift. A two-mile-long ice core, pulled from the center of Greenland, contained bubbles of air revealing what the Earth's atmosphere was like over a period of 100,000 years. Alley saw that at one point, the global climate drastically changed in as little as 10 years. Following this discovery, the Penn State University professor made climate change a personal crusade. He gives the lecture "Get Rich and Save the World: Global Warming, Peak Oil, and Our Future" at 7 tonight in the University of Hawai'i-Manoa Campus Center ballroom.
