A 54-year-old man who died Tuesday night after an electrical shock made him fall from a utility pole on Navy housing property off Catlin Drive near Honolulu International Airport was identified today as Taily A. Corpuz of Waipahu.

Corpuz was found about 9 p.m. and died later at The Queen's Medical Center.

An autopsy today found he died from "multiple blunt-force injuries due to a fall from height due to high-voltage electrocution" and listed manner of death as accidental.

Kalihi police Lt. Sherman Chan said about two feet of cut copper wiring was found near Corpuz's body.

A woman believed to be homeless, who called 911 from a nearby hotel to report the incident, had said the man was taking copper wiring, according to witness statements. The woman, however, had left the scene by the time police arrived, Chan said.

The utility pole is on a construction site where buildings are being demolished for a new housing project mauka of Nimitz Highway.
