Chaminade's Whiting best of PacWest men's basketball

Chaminade senior Zack Whiting was named Pacific West Conference men's basketball player of the year.

Whiting, a point guard, is a three-time All-PacWest selection. He also was named to the NCAA Division II Daktronics West Region first team and is a finalist for the Cousy Award as the nation's top point guard.

Whiting finished as the NCAA assists leader with 10.5 assists per game. He ranked 26th in scoring with a 20.9 points-per-game average.

Others on the PacWest first team were Richard Davis and Bryan Lee of Grand Canyon, Lucas Alves of Brigham Young-Hawai'i and Marko Kolaric of Chaminade.

Named to the second team were Eric Boyce and Wu Tai-Hao of Brigham Young-Hawai'i, Rudy Bogan of Grand Canyon, Samuel Wilhoite of Hawai'i-Hilo and Ryan Cooper of Notre Dame de Namur.
