Ala Wai fuel spill is cleaned up

Firefighters cleaned up a small fuel spill in the Ala Wai Canal this afternoon.The source of the fuel was unknown. It was spotted near the Diamond Head end of the canal about 1:30 p.m. Firefighters attempted to clean up the fuel, but were not able to get all of it out of the water. The remainder was expected to dissipate during the afternoon.
Coast Guard officials inspected the site and said the fuel was not a cause for concern.
