Concerto Competition winners on HPR at 3 p.m. tomorrow

At 3 p.m. tomorrow, Hawaii Public Radio will present a preview of this year's Symphony Associates' Concerto Competition winners' concert in a Live From the Atherton broadcast hosted by HPR Music Director Gene Schller.

The live broadcast will also be heard on Maui on KKUA 90.7 FM and on the Big Island on KANO 91.1 Hilo.

The young soloists include: Noel Lee, 10, piano; Angeline Chang, 17, violin; Mary Elizabeth Keller, 14, violin; Kolomona Wilson-Ku, 16, piano; Austin Au,16, piano; Edward Vause, 18, violin; Annie Kwok,12, piano; and Michael Yukio Lim, 17, violin.

Tickets to the concert for the hour-long live broadcast are free, and reservations may be made by calling 955-8821.

The Honolulu Symphony concert being previewed by this Live From the Atherton broadcast will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Blaisdell Concert Hall. Henry Miyamura will conduct the young soloists and the Honolulu Symphony that evening starting. Tickets are $10, and available at 792-2000.

The Symphony Associates is a volunteer support organization that raises funds for the Honolulu Symphony as well as conducting a variety of educational projects and services. The Concerto Competition is one of their oldest community outreach programs.
