Cooler spring likely for Hawai'i, Weather Service says

News Release

Below normal temperatures are likely for Hawai'i this spring, says the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

In its annual Spring Outlook forecast for April through June, NOAA's scientists said above normal temperatures are more likely than average from the West through the Plains into the Southeast. They also said below normal temperatures are likely for southwest California and Hawai'i.

The remainder of the country has equal chances of above, near or below normal temperature.

There is an increased chance of below-normal precipitation from the central Rockies into much of Nevada and the southern half of California, as well as Louisiana, eastern Texas, and eastern Oklahoma. The remainder of the country, including Hawai'i, has equal chances of above, near or below normal precipitation.

NOAA's agencies include the National Weather Service.
