Trade winds expected to return tomorrow

A weak-surface cold front remains near Kaua'i this morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Light winds, partly cloudy skies and scattered showers can be expected across most of the state today, forecasters said.

The winds will shift to the northeast tonight and Friday.

The wind shift will bring about a return of more typical trade wind weather.

Here's how the next few days are shaping up:

Today: Partly sunny with scattered showers. Highs 76 to 81. Southeast winds around 10 mph in the morning becoming light. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Tonight: Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 63 to 68. Northeast winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Friday: Sunny with isolated showers. Highs 75 to 81. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Friday night: Mostly clear with isolated showers. Lows 62 to 69. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Saturday: Sunny with isolated showers. Highs 76 to 82. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Saturday night: Mostly clear with isolated showers. Lows 62 to 70. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
