Low helps Washington St. past Oral Roberts, 70-54

SACRAMENTO — 'Iolani School graduate Derrick Low had 12 points, three assists, four rebounds and one steal this morning to help Washington State defeat Oral Roberts, 70-54, in the first round of the NCAA men's basketball tournament at ARCO Arena.

Low, a 6-foot-2 junor guard and former three-time Advertiser State Player of the Year, drained two 3-pointers to spark a 12-2 run for the Cougars to open the second half, giving the Cougars a 38-30 lead with 15:40 remaining.

Washington State will play the winner of today's Vanderbilt-George Washington game in Saturday's second round.
