A 54-year-old man who died Tuesday night after being shocked and falling from a utility pole on Navy housing property off Catlin Drive near Honolulu International Airport was identified yesterday as Taily A. Corpuz of Waipahu.

Corpuz was found about 9 p.m. and died later at The Queen's Medical Center.

An autopsy yesterday found the cause of death to be "multiple blunt force injuries due to a fall from height due to high-voltage electrocution" and listed the manner of death as accidental.

Kalihi police Lt. Sherman Chan said about two feet of cut copper wiring was found near Corpuz's body.

A woman believed to be from the homeless population in the area who called 911 from a nearby hotel to report the incident had mentioned the man was taking copper wiring, according to witness statements. The woman, however, had left the scene by the time police arrived, Chan said.

The utility pole is on a construction site where buildings are being demolished for a new housing project mauka of Nimitz Highway.
