Advertiser Staff

MINNEAPOLIS — University of Hawaii diver Magnus Frick finished in third place while teammate Mats Wiktorsson took 13th on the 3-meter springboard diving competition today on the second of three days of the 2007 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championship at the University of Minnesota's Aquatic Center.

Frick, who took second yesterday on the 1-meter, accumulated a score of 407.05 today on the 3-meter springboard in the championship finals.

The junior from Ingaro, Sweden, picked up his second first-team All-America honor with the finish. Frick's second-place finish yesterday is the highest UH male finish at the NCAA Championship in either swimming or diving.

Wiktorsson, a junior from Jonkoping, Sweden, placed 13th in the consolation finals with a score of 349.40. He garnered his second honorable mention All-America honor on the 3M in the past two seasons.

The NCAA Championship concludes Saturday.

Frick will not participate on the platform and will instead head to Melbourne, Australia, to participate in the World Aquatic Championships on Sunday. Wiktorsson is slated to dive on the platform that begins at 8:30 a.m., Hawaii time, with the preliminaries.
