KIHEI
94.3 acres for housing sought

Advertiser Staff

A&B Properties is seeking state land-use reclassification of 94.3 acres of agricultural land in North Kihei for residential development.

The company is proposing single-family and multifamily housing with a small commercial area and open space and parks, said Vice President Grant Chun. The project is in the very early stages of planning, he said, with state and county approvals needed.

Chun said the development is envisioned for as many as 600 units marketed to local residents who want to be close to work and other conveniences.

The land is a remnant parcel that is vacant except for a small seed corn farm.
