DOWNTOWN
St. Pat's party closing streets

Advertiser Staff

Nu'uanu and Merchant streets will be closed to traffic starting at noon tomorrow to accommodate the staging of St. Patrick's Day festivities.

The annual block party will start at 5 p.m., with live entertainment and food booths serving corned beef and cabbage, Irish steak sandwiches, fish and chips, and fresh-shucked oysters.

This will be the 20th annual celebration put on by Murphy's Bar & Grill on Merchant Street.

For each pound of corned beef sold, owner Don Murphy will contribute $1 to the Hawai'i Children's Cancer Foundation. (Last year he sold 2,500 pounds.)
