'Iolani alum Sun second in 200 backstroke at NCAAs

Stanford senior Hongzhe Sun, a 2003 'Iolani School graduate, finished second in the 200-yard backstroke today at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

Sun finished in 1 minute, 40.78 seconds. Northwestern's Matt Grevers won in 1:38.71.

California junior Mark Eckert, a 2004 'Iolani alum, placed 12th in 1:44.35.

Sun also finished sixth in the 200 butterfly in 1:44.39. UC Irvine's Randall Tom, a 2003 Seabury Hall graduate, was disqualified.

Also, University of Hawai'i junior Mats Wiktorsson placed 13th in platform diving with 313.10 points.
