Kaua'i to celebrate Ka Leo Community Meeting Program

Advertiser Staff

LIHU'E – The fourth annual celebration of the Ka Leo O Kaua'i community meeting program will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kaua'i War Memorial Convention Hall.

"This is a great opportunity for residents to meet and celebrate with their neighbors," Mayor Bryan Baptiste said. "I invite the community to join us."

This year's program will pay tribute to community members in each town who have contributed to Ka Leo O Kaua'i.

"We're very grateful for the work done over the years by our community members," said Catherine Stovall, community response specialist for the north shore, east side and part of the central district. "They planted the seeds and helped bring a number of projects to fruition that have benefited the community."

The mayor and community response team will be discussing expanded community programs such as the neighbor-to-neighbor networking, the mayor's e-newsletter and community updates, and the revised community-driven agenda for Ka Leo meetings.

County department heads and volunteer teams will also have displays and information on their programs including Adopt a Park, affordable housing, CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams), drug and crime prevention, and Parent Project.
