Hollywood flick to film on O'ahu

Advertiser Staff

The romantic comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" will begin filming on O'ahu next month. TV stars Jason Segel ("How I Met Your Mother") and Kristin Bell ("Veronica Mars") will star in the bad-breakup-gone-good flick from Universal Studios-Apatow Productions.

"It's clear that Act 88 played a significant role in their interest in Hawai'i," said Donne Dawson, Film Commissioner at the state's Hawai'i Film Office, in a statement. The measure was passed by the Legislature last session and signed into law by Gov. Linda Lingle to attract filmmakers to the Islands.

"We are seeing very positive results from the passage of Act 88," said Brenda Ching, Hawaii Film and Entertainment Board chair and executive director of the Screen Actors Guild here. "It's only been about six months since the bill was enacted and it is clear we are 'back in the game' as a major on-location production destination."
