UH finishes baseball sweep over Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Jon Hee batted 3 for 5 with three RBIs and Evan Zimny tied a school record with three doubles to help Hawai'i beat Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 9-2, today to complete a four-game series sweep at Les Murakami Stadium.

Matt Daly (2-1) went five innings, allowing no runs, one hit and four walks with seven strikeouts for the Rainbows (19-8). Jayson Kramer added two innings of relief, while Craig Johnson and Nick Rhodes pitched one each to finish off the Panthers.

Dan Luczak (0-4) allowed five runs, nine hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings for the Panthers (0-13)

Hawai'i drew first blood for the first time in the series by scoring in the second. Evan Zimny doubled with one out and scored on Landon Hernandez's single to left to give UH a 1-0 lead. The next two batters flied out to end the inning.

The Panthers got on the board in the sixth against reliever Jayson Kramer. Rob Brockel reached on a single to short and took third on shortstop Nate Young's throwing error. After Shawn Wozniak flied out to left, Nich Wicsher's single to right scored Brockel to pull Milwaukee to 2-1.

Hawai'i chased Luczak in the sixth. Zimny led off with a double and one out later, scored on Matt Roquemore's single to right. Roquemore stole second and took third on a wild pitch before Young walked. Young stole second and Jon Hee's flare single to right scored both runners to make it 5-1. Luczak was pulled for Jordan Herbert, who retired the next to batters to end the inning.

The Panthers added a run against Kramer in the seventh. Munson was hit by a pitch and took second on Shaun Wegner's single to right. The runners advanced when Kyle Silver grounded out to second and advanced again when Jesse Hart grounded out to first to make it 5-2. Brockel grounded out to short to end the inning.

The Rainbows chased Herbert in the seventh. With two outs, Zimny tied a school record with his third double of the game and scored on Hernandez's double. After taking third on a balk, Hernandez scored on Roquemore's single to short. Herbert was pulled for Tom Zimmerman, who hit Young to put runners at first and second to set up Hee's RBI single that made it 8-2 with Young stopping at second. A wild pitch on ball four to DuPree allowed Young to score from second, Hee to take third and DuPree to take second before Catricala struck out to end the inning with UH ahead 9-2.
