Bradley sweeps doubleheader from UH-Hilo

Advertiser Staff

Dan Brewer homered to lead off the top of the ninth inning, boosting Bradley to a 7-6 victory over host Hawai'i-Hilo and a sweep of a non-conference baseball doubleheader at Simmons' Field in Kailua, Kona.

Brewer and Ryan Eigsti each had two RBIs, Colby Luttrell had three hits and Paul Rice pitched out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth for the Braves (7-7).

Rice entered with one out and David Chu on second by way of a hit by pitch and sacrifice. Rice got Robby Mowers to line out to left and, following a wild pitch that advanced Chu to third, induced Ryan Taiariol to pop up for the final out.

Taiariol hit a two-run single to lead the Vulcans (5-25).

In the first game, Brewer drove in four runs and Rice contributed three RBIs to lead Bradley to a 19-10 victory.

Michael Higa had four RBIs, and Mowers and A.J. Satele added three hits apiece for Hilo.
