Waipahu beats Wai'alae for O'ahu AJA baseball title

Advertiser Staff

Kramer Aoki and Syd Kinimaka hit two-run homers and Sean Yamashita pitched 3 2/3 innings of effective relief as Waipahu defeated Wai'alae, 6-5, in the championship game of the O'ahu AJA Tournament at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Yamashita relieved starter Blane Muraoka with two runs in and the bases loaded and one out in the sixth. An error and sacrifice fly allowed Wai'alae to close to 6-5, but Yamashita escaped further trouble and allowed just one hit while striking out five to earn the save.

AD Mols homered for Wai'alae.

Waipahu will represent O'ahu in the Hawai'i State AJA Tournament in Hilo, April 7 and 8.
