Big surf peaking tonight along north, west shores

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a high-surf advisory for north- and west-facing shores of O'ahu.

Surf along north-facing shores was expected to climb to 10 to 15 feet today and could reach 15 to 20 feet by tonight, forecasters said.

Waves of 6 to 10 feet were expected today along west-facing shores, growing to 10 to 13 feet by tonight; 2 to 4 feet with occasionally higher sets along east-facing shores; and 2 to 4 feet along south-facing shores.

The extended forecast calls for the current west-northwest swell to slowly subside tomorrow and Tuesday.

Another west northwest swell is expected in on Friday, bringing near-advisory surf heights for north- and west-facing shores.
