San Diego State junior shortstop Troy Hanzawa, a 2003 Mid-Pacific graduate, was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week today.

It is Hanzawa's first career weekly award. He batted .533 on the week (8 for 15), striking out once in 19 plate appearances and tallying a .632 on-base percentage as the Aztecs went 3-1 on the week.

In a 4-3 extra-inning loss to UC Riverside, Hanzawa went 3 for 5 with a double and one run scored. He also collected a stolen base in the loss. In game one of a three-game tilt vs. UCLA, Hanzawa reached base five times, scoring twice as part of a 2-for-3 performance from the plate in SDSU's 8-2 victory. In a 12-6 game two win, he went 2 for 4 with a RBI single and two runs scored. In the rubber game, he went 1 for 3 as the Aztecs completed the sweep with a 5-3 win.
