  • Ala Moana Hotel has named Grant James general manager and Ron Takayama assistant general manager. In their new positions, James is responsible for all aspects of the hotel including hotel operations, rental program owner satisfaction, andl Association of Apartment Owners (AOA) management. Takayama oversees the rooms division departments and provides support for James.

  • Rick Nagaoka has been named director of group sales at the Fairmont Orchid Hawai'i resort. He will oversee a five-person sales team, as well as his own territory of Southern California, Washington and Oregon. Since 2002, he was director of sales and marketing at Mauna Kea Resort (Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel).

  • The Franciscan Adult Day Center, an outreach program of St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawai'i and the Sisters of St. Francis, has named Sister Ellen McClure program director. She will oversee day-to-day operations of the Manoa-based adult day facility that serves frail elders and their families through respite, counseling, referral and education. The position is in addition to duties that include grant writing for St. Francis Healthcare System. Before joining St. Francis system, McClure was a home health and hospice nurse in Pittsburgh.

  • Long-time visitor industry veteran DAVID UCHIYAMA has been named new marketing director for the Hawai'i Tourism Authority. For more than 10 years, Uchiyama has been handling marketing and communications as regional director of communications for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Hawai'i and French Polynesia.

  • Nishihama & Kishida, CPAs Inc., one of Hawai'i's largest locally-owned certified public accountant firms, has announced the following promotions: Ryan Iwane and JOANN NAKAMURA were promoted to senior audit managers from audit managers; Rommel Marzan was promoted to tax manager from tax supervisor. Ying Yan Chen was promoted to tax supervisor from tax senior. Jie Li was promoted to audit supervisor from audit senior.

  • ELIZABETH REMICK has been promoted to volunteer programs manager for the USS Missouri Memorial Association, a private Hawai'i-based non-profit organization, designated by the U.S. Navy as caretaker of the battleship. The memorial is supported by admissions, retail and concession sales, donations, grants, and the work of volunteers. Remick, who is a former tour guide on the Missouri, also volunteers as ombudsman for Commander Destroyer Squadron United 31 at Naval Station Pearl Harbor.

  • DANE SHIMABUKU has joined the Honolulu City and County Employees Federal Credit Union as (car) dealer finance manager, overseeing their indirect lending program, loans originated by automobile dealers and assigned to the credit union. Before joining HCCEFCU, he was similarly dealer finance manager for HawaiUSA FCU.
