Shipyard to hold annual job fair

The Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard will hold its annual job fair Saturday to recruit workers for its apprenticeship program.

More than 2,000 job seekers are expected at the event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Honolulu Community College Marine Education Training Center, 10 Sand Island Access Road.

Those selected for the 100 positions will earn $17 an hour while also earning an associate's degree in applied trades from Honolulu Community College. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, be 18 years old by Jan 6, 2008, and be a high school or GED graduate. Applications are available online at https://acep.hawaii.navy.mil. NORTHWEST TO FLY AIRBUS TO ISLES

Northwest Airlines said it will begin flying Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft for flights to Honolulu from Tokyo and Osaka.

Northwest also said it plans to add a daily flight from Tokyo to Honolulu during the peak July 1 to Aug. 31 season, increasing the airline's service to three flights a day between the two cities. The third flight is subject to government approval.

Northwest, which began taking delivery of the Airbus A330 aircraft in August 2003, said it currently has 14 298-seat A330-300s and 12 longer-range, 243-seat A330-200s in its aircraft fleet.


COLDWELL UNIT PROMOTES ISHII

Chason Ishii has been promoted to president of Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties, the firm's parent company announced.

In his new role, Ishii will oversee the firm's six residential real estate brokerage sales offices, a sales force of more than 450 agents, its commercial real estate operation, agent services, marketing, acquisitions, as well as the new homes and projects division.

Ishii assumes the responsibilities held by Herb Conley and Scott Bradley, managing directors of CBPP since 1995. Conley and Bradley will remain with the company and shift from their current roles to serving on the company's board of advisers.

Before joining Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties in 2000, Ishii was group vice president of Servco Pacific Inc.
