WAIPAHU
Sewer lines to be checked

Advertiser Staff

Smoke testing of sewer lines along Awamoku, Awaiki and Awanui streets will take place today through Friday and March 27 to 30.

The testing will be conducted by crews with the city Environmental Services Department as part of a continuing effort to prevent rainwater from entering the sewer system by locating broken pipes, illegal connections, open clean-outs and other paths that allow runoff to enter the sewer system.

Crews will blow smoke into sewer lines and record where the smoke appears. The smoke is harmless and odorless and is not a fire hazard or health threat to humans or pets. Notices have been sent to area residents.
