Rainbow Wahine rise to No. 21 in national softball poll

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i softball team ascended to No. 21 in this week's USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Top-25 Poll.

The Rainbow Wahine were No. 25 last week.

By sweeping Nevada in the opening Western Athletic Conference series, the Rainbows are 30-7, the second-most victories nationally behind No. 4 Oklahoma (33-2).

"We've got some serious points (132)," UH coach Bob Coolen said of the voting. "Word is getting out we might be a legitimate team."

The Rainbows host Louisiana Tech in a WAC game Friday and doubleheader Saturday.
