Advertiser Staff

Firefighters assisted police today in recovering the nude body of a man from waters off one of the islands in Ke'ehi Lagoon.

Police received a report of a body near Mokuoeo Island at 1:35 p.m. City Emergency Medical Services personnel made the death pronouncement at 2:58 p.m. when the body was brought to shore, said EMS spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

Tentative identification has been made of the 54-year-old man and there is no signs of foul play, police said. It is believed the man was being treated for an illness and had been discharged from the hospital a few days ago.

Police have classified the case as an unattended death, pending autopsy findings for cause and manner of death.
