Bradley beats UH-Hilo in 10 innings, 3-2

Advertiser Staff

Justin Carr singled to drive in Ryan Eigsti with two outs in the top of the 10th inning today as Bradley edged Hawai'i-Hilo, 3-2, in a non-conference baseball game at Wong Stadium.

Eigsti had doubled with two outs, and advanced to third on a wild pitch before scoring on Carr's hit to center for the Braves (9-7).

Jesse Yamashita singled to open the 10th for the Vulcans (5-22), but reliever Brad Altbach got Michael Higa on a popup to third and then induced David Chu to hit into an around-the-horn, game-ending double play.

Pat Ryerson and Paul Rice hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the third to put Bradley ahead 2-0.

Chu hit a run-scoring single in the third and Hilo tied the score in seventh when Dayne Ogawa doubled, advanced to third on Jon Vitale's sacrifice and scored on Shane Kessel's single to right.

Hilo starter Clayton Uyechi allowed four hits and struck out eight over 6 2/3 innings. Reliever Karl Maas pitched out of trouble in the eighth and shut down the Braves until the 10th.
