RESTAURANT NEWS

LULU'S, TROPICAL SMOOTHIE, RUTH'S CHRIS OPENING IN WAIKIKI

Lots of restaurant openings happening after a long drought. This week, it's the reopening of Lulu's Surf Club Waikiki with new decor and new menu on the second floor of the Park Shore Waikiki Hotel, corner of Kalakaua and Kapahulu. "Lost" actor Teddy Wells (who plays Ivan) opened the Tropical Smoothie Cafe at 88 Pi'ikoi, Suite 2, a few weeks ago; it's the first O'ahu outlet of a Mainland chain, selling 40 different fruit smoothies, wraps and sandwiches. The new Ruth's Chris Steak House opens tomorrow in the Waikiki Beach Walk complex (where Yard House was the first to launch and Holokai Grill recently opened).

In other restaurant news, Shanghai Bistro in Discovery Bay Shopping Center has inaugurated a bargain lunch buffet with five kinds of dim sum, three salads, two soup choices and one entree choice with dessert and coffee or tea for $12.95. Individual dim-sum servings are $2.50 apiece when accompanying any meal between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
