HALAWA
Residents asked to save water

Advertiser Staff

The county Department of Water Supply has issued a notice for voluntary water conservation in North Kohala while repairs are made to the Hawi No. 2 Deepwell.

The department is asking residents from Puakea Bay to Halawa to cut water use by 10 percent. Agricultural users should irrigate only at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to reduce water loss from evaporation and minimize water system drain during peak demand.

Conservation measures include limiting toilet flushes, using water only to wet and rinse off during bathing, washing only full loads of laundry and dishes, and not watering lawns or washing cars.
