HAWAI'I KAI
Park opening being delayed

Advertiser Staff

The city is waiting another month for the bare grass spots to grow in on the newly renovated Goeas baseball field at Koko Head District Park before it opens to the public.

The $1.23 million construction contract with Site Engineering Inc. was completed last year, but the city has not accepted the project, said Eugene Lee, city Department of Design and Construction director.

The project includes a regulation-sized baseball field, lighting, landscaping, Americans with Disabilities Act parking, a drinking fountain, sidewalks and a fence.

The expansion was a community vision project established by former Mayor Jeremy Harris.
