'Dog' news is big news, it seems.

Hawai'i lawmakers honored TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman and his wife, Beth, for getting crooks off the street.

The state House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a resolution honoring the couple for their work at capturing criminals.

Duane Chapman is the star of the Hawai'i-based A&E reality series "Dog the Bounty Hunter," which follows his exploits in apprehending people who have avoided arrest. A&E is owned by A&E Television Networks, a joint venture of the Hearst Corp., ABC, Inc. and NBC Universal. ABC is a unit of The Walt Disney Co.; NBC is owned by General Electric Co.

Some 198 media outlets across the country, Canada and as far away as France and New Zealand picked up on the largely ceremonial gesture, according to a Google search.

Best headline: "Hawai'i throws "dog' a bone," from the Orange County (Calif.) Register.
