Work on Maunawili Bridge begins next week

Advertiser Staff

Work will start next week on a $1.4 million project to demolish and replace the Maunawili Bridge over Kamakalepo Stream, city officials announced today.

One lane of the bridge will remain open throughout the entire seven-month replacement project, officials said. Construction hours will be limited from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays.

"While we've made much of our road repaving efforts, we also have to be mindful that many of our bridges are very old and in need of repair or replacement," Mayor Mufi Hannemann said.
