HAWAI'I KAI
5th-graders' art to be displayed

Advertiser Staff

A group of Kamiloiki Elementary School fifth-graders will have their artwork on display from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Bubbies Ice Cream Koko Marina Shopping Center.

The show will feature two pieces from each of the 27 students, said teacher Matt Limtiaco.

The bodies of work will be taken from the students' study of the book "Whale Rider," a tale of a Maori girl who is loved by all but her grandfather, the person she most wants acceptance from.

The second work is the students' interpretation of Ernest Hemingway's "Old Man and the Sea," a tale of an aging Cuban fisherman and his struggle to land a giant marlin.
