Music scholarship winners to play at Mozart House

The Morning Music Club of Honolulu recently held its annual scholarship competition at Punahou School's Montague Hall.

Judges selected 15 of 47 performers for $1,000 awards.

The winners will perform free at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mozart House, Room 322, 720 Iwilei Road:

Todd Kawamoto, 17, a senior at Mililani High School who has studied french horn for 6 1/2 years. His teacher is Kevin Leong.

Kwok Nam Lam, 19, a student at Brigham Young University-Hawai'i who has studied piano for about 7 1/2 years. His teacher is Scott McCarrey.

Heather Foutz, 20, a student at BYUH who has studied voice for eight years. Her teacher is Michael Belnap.

Joseph Davis Moore, 25, a student at BYUH who has studied voice for 3 1/2 years.

Maile Cha, 15, a home-schooled student who has studied piano for eight years. Her teacher is Ellen Masaki.

Sandra Tang, 16, a junior at Moanalua High School who has studied piano for 10 years. Her teacher is Joyce Su-Hui Shih.

Eric Wu, 16, a sophomore at Punahou School who has studied piano for 10 years. His teacher is Thomas Yee.

Kathleen W. Chao, 16, a junior at Kaiser High School who has studied cello for 11 years. Her teacher is Louise Ching.

John Berean, 17, a junior at Punahou School who has studied piano for more than 10 years. His teacher is Ernest Chang.

Casey Tamanaha, 18, a senior at Kalani High School who has studied trumpet for seven years. His teacher is Grant K. Okamura.

Joyce Wang, 15, a sophomore at Kalani High School who has studied piano for nine years. Her teacher is Peter Coraggio.

Heather Shohet, 17, a senior at Moanalua High School who has studied violin for 13 years. Her teacher is Sheryl Shohet.

Allison Chen, 16, a sophomore at Punahou School who has studied cello for six years. Her teacher is Stan Kim.

Justin Ricafort, 17, a junior at Castle High School who has studied clarinet for four years. His teacher is Robert Larm.

Julia Bree Horie, 15, an Iolani School student who has studied piano for 10 years. Her teacher is Joanna Zane Fan.

The Morning Music Club of Honolulu, founded in 1905, for more than 100 years has put on monthly classical programs featuring members and guest artists.
