Police looking for suspect in Kalihi shooting

By Peter Boylan
Advertiser Staff Writer

Honolulu police are looking for a 29-year-old convicted felon who allegedly fired three shots at his girlfriend and her male companion early this morning in Kalihi.

At 2:40 a.m. the suspect's 23-year-old girlfriend was coming home from a night out with a 27-year-old male friend.

The woman and man were out "just as friends," police said.

As the male friend was pulling his truck into the woman's driveway, he saw the suspect running down the street toward them with a gun in his hand, police said.

He immediately turned his truck around and started to drive away.

The suspect pointed the gun at the truck and fired three shots as the pair drove away.

The shots hit the truck but the man and woman were not injured, police said.

The suspect is wanted on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, attempted murder in the first degree and attempted murder in the second degree.
