Hawaiian Folk Life Festival ready to go

The Great Hawaiian Folk Life Festival 2007 will take over Waikiki this weekend to celebrate the 136th birthday of Prince Jonah Kuhio.

The festival will feature live entertainment, hula performances, food and craft booths and exhibits.

Here are some highlights:

i There will be workshops in slack-key guitar, 'ukulele, Hawaiian nose flute and ipu heke this weekend at the Outrigger Waikiki. Call 923-0711.

i A free concert of Hawaiian music is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow on the fountain stage at Waikiki Beach Walk.

i The annual Prince Jonah Kuhio Day Parade will start at 4 p.m. tomorrow along Kalakaua Avenue from Fort DeRussy to Kapi'olani Park.
