State explains new O'ahu surcharge tax on cable show

The state Department of Taxation is taking to cable television to explain the new half-percent O'ahu County surcharge tax.

The department said it is providing basic information on the new tax, including who is subject to it and what transactions are covered, during a half-hour program airing on Olelo, Channel 54.

The program is scheduled to air:

--8 a.m. March 28

--6:30 p.m. April 4

--8:30 a.m. April 11

Other information provided will include common mistakes made by businesses in completing their 2007 general excise tax forms.
